A Modern Fairytale Story

I was excited to receive an invitation from Lucy Anne Reid Events to bring along bridal accessories and join an amazing team of wedding suppliers for this enchanted shoot. The location was in my home city of Bath, so I was more than keen to be involved.

I arrived at this glorious setting on such a hot day overlooking the rolling hills of the Bath countryside and felt blessed to be in the presence of such a historical house with breathtaking views. Being a girl who loves a bit of history, I was in love with the fact Hamswell House was one of three manor houses that were granted to the Priors of Bath by the first king of England, Athelstan. It’s enchanting gardens, beautiful orangery, water gardens and a 400-year-old lime tree really does make this a perfect setting for a beautiful wedding.

With this in mind, it is no wonder that our theme for the day was to create a modern-day fairytale inspired shoot. The chosen colour pallet was gold, soft blues, whites and ivory. The essence of colour was brought to life with wonderful blooms from Emily at Daisy Lane Florals who specialise in bespoke wedding bouquets and wedding floras. Prestigious styling from Elizabeth Weddings and pretty stationery from Lou Paper. The luxurious table setting happened with help from Cfluers Designs who have an Etsy shop full of eco-friendly silk ribbons and drapes which are just beautiful, I have personally ordered from them myself. Table and Louis chair hire was from Acadamey furniture hire. The elegant crockery was from Prestige Event Hire in Bristol.

This gorgeous blue and ivory tone wedding cake with little hints of marbled gold sat beautifully among the floral display in the orangery and was crafted by Sharon from Bella Cakes who specialises in classic, elegant wedding cakes.

The first dress used was an A-Line gown covered with ivory lace appliques, has a deep V-back and a nude underlay. This beautiful Ronald Joyce Dress and Veil were supplied by Trousseaux bridal who are based in Swindon. Our gorgeous couple known on Instagram as "The Grifts" made this shoot easy due to them being already married, so the true love and happy ever after vibe came shining through.

The wedding headpiece I chose for this dress was our new Gadina bridal crown, which complemented the nude undertones of the dress. With flawless makeup and hair created by Storme Makeup Artist, we were set to start.

Gadina is a botanical rose gold crown, with the essence of pale blush petals encrusted with clear crystals and ivory pearls. These pretty flowers are nestled in between tendrils of ivory freshwater pearls and rose gold Swarovski crystals, finished with a sparkling rose gold ribbon.

I teamed this with our Gardina bracelet and hand-made rose gold earrings called River.

The beauty of accessories is that you can change up the look of one dress with a second set of accessories creating another look for the evening. My second choice was to go with our Ilaria wedding headdress.

Ilaria is a twinkling gold asymmetrical headpiece that sits to the side. She comprises intricate threads of gold wire with sprigs of radiant smoky gold flat back Swarovski crystals, complemented with tiny ivory freshwater pearls.

I teamed this with a gold sparkly bracelet. Leanna bracelet is for those wanting something with alluring sparkle. Set on either a gold-tone wire or silver-tone, Leanna has a central detail of set-in-stone diamond-shaped crystals with small tendrils of beautiful navette and round flatback crystals. She comes with a ribbon to tie and can also be used as a very small hair vine.

The second dress really is made of fairytale dreams. A pale blue princess ball gown dress to die for with luxurious blue and gold designer shoes from Harriet Wilde, what could be more fitting for this enchanted photoshoot. Our groom was wearing his own black tux with a shirt from Charles Tyrwhitt.

For this look, our model’s hair is now down with soft romantic waves, and so I felt the whole look was needing a statement princess crown.

Rialto is an alluring sparkly crown set with vintage style adornments. Tendrils of vines with Swarovski navette crystals. Wearing this modern tiara will certainly turn heads.

Due to the delicacy of the tulle on the dress, I avoided using a bracelet to ensure there would-be no snagging, but I did choose our Mia earrings consisting of crystal diamontes which are followed by two freshwater pearls, and a shimmering cluster of three Swarovski crystals to finish the drop. The drop measures approximately 4.5cm. Mia comes in Rose gold plated on to sterling silver or in sterling silver.

The next headpiece that was used was from our “Never Made Twice” collection meaning it’s a unique one-off bridal headband. This beautiful vintage headpiece called Amelia is bursting with colour. Each vintage adornment is set among a double headband and complemented with ivory Swarovski crystal glass pearls.

The last and final look was to incorporate a bit of drama with our Dhara crown which was cohesive to the theme with its gold-tone.

This show-stopping crown is going to turn heads. If you are looking for a princess tiara with a modern twist, then Dhara may be your choice.

This pretty handcrafted crown has the most beautiful gold flower petals that have so much delicate detailing. Complemented with smaller shiny gold flowers with a tiny amount of sparkle. Growing from the double headband like a grapevine is tendrils of ivory freshwater pearls.

This was also accessorised with our matching Dhara Bracelet, she is a pretty gold tone cuff that is tied with ivory ribbon.
